AGB Production's First Wedding at White Fence Farms
White Fence Farms is a perfect venue for a laid-back celebration with friends and family. The entirely outdoor venue features two major barns, one of which is used for dinner and desert with a full bar area and cozy bench and picnic seating. The second barn, built on a platform, features a stage and large dance floor, all under cover, and with plenty of electricity for musical, sound and lighting equipment. The ceremony is set in a cow pasture with a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills.
The bride and groom hired AGB Productions just a few weeks before the wedding. It all started when I decided to schedule a meeting with my audio production professor, Scott Wynne. In the meeting, I asked him questions about starting an audio production-based business specializing in live events. At this point, AGB Productions was little more than a business plan. My professor helped me devise a plan, and lay out a strategy to grow AGB Productions. The business would not exist today without all of the support from my professors and mentors from Appalachian State University. At the end of the meeting, Wynne connected me with the front office of the Hayes School of Music, that frequently receives requests for music assistance with weddings. Located in Boone, North Carolina, there is no shortage of weddings in the university area, as the Blue Ridge Mountains are a huge destination wedding location.
Miraculously, this lead to our first ever wedding! We could not have asked for a better couple for our first wedding. TJ and Chelsea’s families loved to dance. For the reception, we kept the music going all night with a pair of Electro-voice ZLX-15 P’s and the Numark NS7 III controller for Serato DJ. My computer was a 2019 Mac Mini with a portable HDMI monitor. Our lights were Blizzard LB Hex Par Unplugged and ADJ special effects. For the cocktail hour and dinner, we used an EV EKX-12 P on a Samson tripod with a Shure Beta 58 for speeches and toasts.
As far as the performance, I could have been a bit smoother as an MC by memorizing my introductions rather than reading them off of a notebook. The bridal party introduction and the introduction of the bride and groom went off without a hitch though, and the first dance and parent dances were flawless. The bouquet and garter tosses were hilarious, as they usually are! White Fence Farms was the perfect setting for this celebration and AGB Productions can not wait to return to this awesome venue.
