Live music at a Wedding at Boone Golf Club
As always, having a huge part in this wedding’s success was the fantastic vendor team. Doing all of the planning and day-of coordinating was Ivy of Silk Veil Events by Ivy out of Charlotte, NC. Also from Charlotte, North Carolina was photographer Jennifer Austin. You can find more on her work at www.jenniferaustinweddings.com. The videographers for the day were Emmrich Creative. Visit www.emmrichcreative.com for more on their services. Floral services were provided by April Flowers at aprilflowersstudios.com. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the venue of the day was Boone Golf Club located on highway 321 just on the outskirts of Boone, North Carolina. AGB Productions, a wedding DJ and MC service, provided sound, music, DJ and MC services for the event. Austin Bowling and AGB Productions are headquartered in Rolesville, North Carolina, just outside of Wake Forest, North Carolina and also providing service with no travel fees to Raleigh, North Carolina, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Durham, North Carolina. Austin, owner of AGB Productions, is a graduate of Appalachian State University and loves traveling to Boone and Blowing Rock, NC to perform for weddings and other special events.
This wedding will go down as one of my favorites. The bride and groom chose Boone Golf Club for their intimate celebration. Besides the special couple, our friends the Chatham Rabbits were also featured during the beautiful ceremony. The Bluegrass duo played instrumentally for the processional and recessional, but also performed their original songs “Blue Ridge Mountain Home,” and “The Good Things (Outweigh The Bad).” The duo travels with their own sound mixer and microphone. They chose the Neumann KMS 105 both of their vocals. For the banjo and acoustic guitar, they rand both direct. Rather than having the musicians set up their own speaker, I had them run their output into my Yamaha MG12XU, then out to the Electro-Voice ZLX-15P. The Chatham Rabbits mixed themselves on the QSC Touchmix-8. Their settings were already dialed in using the QSC’s digital memory bank. As for the officiant and bride and groom, we went with the usual Shure ULXS4 with the Shure WL93 on both the officiant and groom. The audio out on the balcony of the Boone Golf Club was loud and clear from the front row on the left side of the aisle, where our system was set up, to the back row on the right of the aisle.
What would a summer wedding celebration in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina be without a little rain in the mix? With just a few minutes remaining before the beginning of the ceremony, the skies opened up. Luckily, the tent covering the patio area was just enough to keep all of the seats and equipment dry. Boone Golf Club is well equipped and prepared for these events. The ceremony went off perfectly. I was grateful to meet and work alongside the Chatham Rabbits for the afternoon. The first encounter I had had with them was at Legends in downtown Boone, NC. The Chatham Rabbits were the opening act for Sierra Hull, a mandolin virtuoso. The Chatham Rabbits are one of my favorite bluegrass duos in North Carolina, and their music was the perfect match for this laid back mountain wedding. See the video below for highlights from the entire day.
